5.0 out of 5 stars Been waiting years for this book ...
Well, I got my copy of this book the day before yesterday and i don't think I put it down until I'd read every page (including the index at the back. This is the book that Quo fans have been waiting for - it's very much the insude strory of Quo and certainly isn't a sanitised one. Lots of stuff in here that I didn't know (lots of pix not seen before too). Even if you're a...

1.0 out of 5 stars POOR.....VERY POOR
I would echo the thoughts of another reviewer, this book IS both badly written and badly edited, and yes it is also disorganised, inconsistent, arbitrary and repetitive. However that's only starting to scratch the surface, the reproduction of the pictures is poor, considering the author had exclusive access to John he seems to have asked him nothing worth knowing - or if...

This review is from: Coghlan and Quo (Hardcover)
Well, I got my copy of this book the day before yesterday and i don't think I put it down until I'd read every page (including the index at the back. This is the book that Quo fans have been waiting for - it's very much the insude strory of Quo and certainly isn't a sanitised one. Lots of stuff in here that I didn't know (lots of pix not seen before too). Even if you're a rock fan rather than just a Quo fan, it's a great rock 'n roll story. John comes across as a really nice guy - who'se been all the way up and pretty well all the way down. Sounds like he's really biouncing up again now, and the guy certainly deserves it. Saw him with his band last year and he's as good a drummer as he ever was. Gonna read it all over again now!

This review is from: Coghlan and Quo (Hardcover)
I would echo the thoughts of another reviewer, this book IS both badly written and badly edited, and yes it is also disorganised, inconsistent, arbitrary and repetitive. However that's only starting to scratch the surface, the reproduction of the pictures is poor, considering the author had exclusive access to John he seems to have asked him nothing worth knowing - or if he did he didn't include it in this book!!

Factual errors abound, not least of which is the author's contention that Quo's 1975 album 'On The Level' didn't contain any hit singles!!!! Not quite true, as it did include the band's ONLY UK number one seller ('Down Down'), but apart from that he's correct! I could go on and on listing similar errors but what's the point!

John Coghlan richly deserves a decent book to be written covering his interesting and at times colourful life, sadly this isn't it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars if you're a Quo fan..., 1 April 2007

This review is from: Coghlan and Quo (Hardcover)
This book is badly written, badly edited, disorganised, inconsistent, arbitrary and repetitive. Bit of a mess really. However, if you're a fan, then you'll read it anyway, as its does take the lid off the band (and the whole 70's excess, 80's coke thing).

What comes out of it is that John has survived the rock star thing, despite blowing millions himself and being ripped off, and seems reasonably grounded. Saw him in Diesel in the '80s with Micky Moody, and always wondered what happened next. I would love to find his village, shake his hand for all those great albums - just not sure of the reception I'd get!
