5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent piece of research:
John Powles provides a very detailed (statistics galore!) overview and study of the origins of West Ham Utd football club. With plenty of pictures, anecdotes, quotations, and simply stated facts he creates a very easy to understand and straightforward to read step by step historical log of the club, its players, managers and and company ties.

For West Ham fans...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff
It's an interesting book to me, because it's about the history of my football team.

It's written a bit like a history text book, but once you get beyond that there's some good stuff.

For West Ham fans this is worth a 4/5, just for the sheer detail of long lost history (though dry and without the modern humour).

For fans of other teams this is a 2/5, it's very specific and covers little other than the club and obscure historical remarks.

For football historians, or people fascinated with the roots of English Football this is a 5/5.
