5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous gift!
this book was bought as a gift for a very technically minded cyclist, and went down VERRY well. Apparently it is easy to understand without being patronizing, picks are good and helpfull, and would be suitable for those with no, or quite a bit of technical ability.

1.0 out of 5 stars KIndle version badly formatted
This book has not transferred properly to the Kindle. The formatting around the illustrations causes badly placed text. It is not possible to look up chapters from the index. Buy the paper version!

4.0 out of 5 stars For reading cyclists everywhere, 5 Jan 2011
I stumbled on this book in the local bookshop and just had to buy it. Great format, lots of graphics, photos and illustrations. I have not completed my reading of it yet but I just had to get this review in so that those of a mechanical/engineering bent will buy it. It is written by a couple of enthusiastic experts and they know their stuff. The real value of the book is as a source of technical information about the history and construction details of the bicycle. Maybe all this information is on the web but to have it in book form is a real treat. One minor, very minor, gripe is that the text sometimes refers to Figures that are not on the same page and the Figures themselves are not labeled. It is not a repair manual but the details are fascinating and will be useful for understanding the minutiae of bike technology. A huge amount of love and time went into the production of the book. I highly recommend it.
