5.0 out of 5 stars Serious metaphysics and reality creation
If you are more than trivially interested in what lies behind the scenes in metaphysics and reality creation then this book is well worth considering. Forget its provenance - just read it. It is the first of the Seth books I ever read and I am always sceptical of channeled material, however after a few pages my doubts were gone.
If you want an easier introduction...

1.0 out of 5 stars Most confusing book ever
Its been a cold night and I've just finished draging myself to the end of this "book" and I can honestly say that the only good thing I've gotten from this read is the heat from its flames after I through it in the fire. Its the most confusing book I've ever read. It tells you something about belief systems and how you create it and how you can change but in the middle...

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious metaphysics and reality creation, 17 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
If you are more than trivially interested in what lies behind the scenes in metaphysics and reality creation then this book is well worth considering. Forget its provenance - just read it. It is the first of the Seth books I ever read and I am always sceptical of channeled material, however after a few pages my doubts were gone.
If you want an easier introduction then you might like to try Lynda Dahl's books based on the Seth readings. Take these in the order in which she wrote them: Beyond The Winning Streak, Ten Thousand Whispers finishing with The Wizards Of Consciousness.
If you want background Seth material then try The Seth Material and Seth Speaks.
The Nature Of Personal Reality is not the easiest of books. Seth does not talk down to those expecting new age, simplistic or unthinking presentation. However it is readable, interesting and practical.
Seth explains how our beliefs affect what happen to us. We create what we perceive, individually and collectively. He tells how to identify limiting beliefs and how to change our way of thinking. I've tried over the last few years and any problems have been mine not of Seth's teaching.
Seth explains the how and why of the physical world. There is so much more on metaphysics in his other books, some of it quite difficult to understand and come to terms with. Nonetheless it is worth studying. If the serious side of this metaphysics interests you, then you may wish to read Norman Friedman's books: Bridging Science And Spirit and The Hidden Domain. This material is very deep, touching on philosophy and quantum physics, but don't let that put you off the practicalities! You don't need to understand physics to choose the TV channels you want to watch or the reality you want to create.
Coming from a scientific background, I question and cogitate. I've researched religion and new age philosophies. For me, this is the end of my search and the beginning of my enlightenment.
In Seth's terms, if you've read this and you feel inside, even ever so slightly, it worth pursuing then follow your feelings. If you feel slightly daunted by the word metaphysics then read Lynda Dahl's books first but do read The Nature Of Personal Reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars The must read book of the 20th century!, 31 July 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
Every self-help book you've ever read tels you that you can acheive anything you want-if only you have faith. But what if you don't have faith? How do you get this "faith"? The answer lies in your personal belief system-which is the source of your faith. For the first time that I am aware, a book shows you how your beliefs are created, and, if they do not serve you, how you can change them. This is the kind of book that can change the course of your life after just one reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whose reality is it anyway?, 22 Mar 2005
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
Seth, through the medium of Jane Roberts informs us of the "true" nature of "reality". What is reality anyway? This book can help you decide. Tired of the one-sided view of the world? Let this book help you find another one. Understand that each one of us views the world through a belief system that can also affect our experiences. eg I believe that people are good, kind and generous. In my Life I generally meet people who are good, kind and generous. However if I believed that people were mean, cruel and hurtful, I'm sure I would attract people who act in this way. Your expectations help form your reality. Understand this and you may make different choices in Life and may be able to change that which you do not like about your Life. This book explains how. I cured myself from endometriosis with a meditation from this book! (Endo is incurable!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A revolutionary book which will stand the test of time, 19 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
What is the best, most profound book on the nature of our shared existence? Is it a religious book, a scientific book, a spiritual text or a philosophical one? Or should such a book be a combination of all these?
When reading the Amazon.com reviews of books which purport to offer insights into the truer nature of our shared reality, I am often intrigued by the variety of opinions on their merit. It seems that there are as many answers to which book is the most profound as there are books. A good many people for example would cite the Bible as being the most profound and the best. Many others might suggest the Koran, the Vedic Texts or any number of religious, New Age or Scientific books. It seems that each field of human thought, be it religion, science or philosophy have their own truths - truths which are often in contradiction of others.
So what is the best, most profound book to read if one is to better understand our shared reality? Perhaps the best criteria by which to judge such a book would be that it is able to intelligently bridge the seeming divide between science and religion, between the objective world of facts and the subjective world of faith. The SETH series of books accomplishes this task like no other. These books collectively provide the deepest, most profound source of information as to how our shared reality functions. And 'The Nature of Personal Reality' is, I believe, the philosophical centrepiece of all the SETH books. In short, 'The Nature of Personal Reality' is nothing short of revolutionary. It will stand the test of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great in every sense of the word, 21 Oct 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
I am so thankfull that I came across this book! I read this book for the first time several years ago, and I still go back to it on a regular basis. It's greatness lies in how we are encouraged to use our intellect to take an honest look at our own belief patterns, and in doing so discovering that we indeed create our own world.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a guidebook for the art of insightful living., 21 Jun 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
If I could read only one book in all of my lifetime, it would be this book. If you can take in and understand its contents, reflect on the messages that Seth gives to all of us, then you will be able to live a life much richer in experience and much deeper in meaning. This book takes the reader much "deeper" than other disciplines or areas of thought. It goes well beyond the ordinary self-help book to take you further into the questions of consciousness that we all ask ourselves from time to time. Read this book and your life can be changed forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn how to create the best life for yourself, 24 Jun 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
I read this book back in 1974, and I still consider it the best explanation of our purpose in life, which is to learn how to successfully create reality. Not only do you learn the philosophy, Seth shows many practical examples of these concepts in action.

You are responsible for your experiences. This book will empower you like no other...because it's your thoughts that make things happen - literally!

Get into control of your life now.

This book will change you. Master it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book on metaphysics you can read., 11 Jun 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
"You create your own reality." The main thrust of this book is to explain exactly how beliefs, thoughts and emotions create our own personal realities. I have read it three times and I learn more about myself with each reading. If you are seriously looking to understand more about yourself, and therefore God, then this is a must read.
Seth's main theory is that God is All That Is, and we, being part of God, have His (Her) creative abilities. The book has exercises and suggestions to help each person improve their own life. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars It should be required reading for all hypnotherapists, 11 Feb 2008
By
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
I've been planning to read this book for years before I actually got to it and I'm very glad I read it. One of the reasons I was postponing reading this book is that I generally don't rush to buy "channelled" books - there are very few of those that I really like and this one is one of them.

It's a good book from from the perspective of psychology, metaphysics, and hypnosis - and even if you are well-versed in these areas and you know them inside out, you can still benefit from reading this book.

The book deals in great depth with beliefs. As a hypnotherapist and metaphysician, I am extremely well-aware of the role they play in creating one's experience of reality and it is amazing that there are no hypnosis books that have dealt so thoroughly and insightfully with beliefs (nope, not even Dilts' book on Beliefs).

Now that I've read this book - I think it should be a required reading for all hypnotherapists.

5.0 out of 5 stars A phenomenally insightful and profound journey!, 10 Dec 2008

Ms. G. L. Asseo "Genevieve Leah" (London, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Seth Book - Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Paperback)
The writings in this book are quite profound and can be complex. I worked my way through this book slowly and will read it again, certainly worth the time and concentration. I was disappointed in reading the customer review who was displeased with this book, and I might add that a bit of understanding as to how these types of books are written and where the information is coming from, as well as an open mind, are pertinent before beginning to read.

As intricate as some of the concepts are, and understanding that I am still training my mind to catch the concepts via this type of channel, I couldn't be more excited to be given this information and challenge to learn. And once it sinks in, it's life-changing. All Seth books I've read thus far have been far more phenomenal than I'd ever expected to experience!
