This offers a fine history of both the race and the social and political landscape in which it was set. It's the only English language history of the Vuelta, so just as well it's a good one. It's quite expensive but like a lot of Mousehold books it offers more than the tedious biographies churned out by the major publishers. It's well researched and nicely written, and has almost a "literary" feel to it. I liked it a lot.
