This review is from: Conquest of the Niger by Land and Sea: From the Early Explorers and Pioneer Steamships to Elder Dempster and Company (Hardcover)
The content of this book is fascinating and seemingly well researched, but the writing style is very amateurish. The lack of attention to punctuation and the printing layout make it awkward to follow in places and demand re-reading of certain passages in order to make sense of it.

Having lived in various parts of West Africa over a number of years I find the history is, however, enthralling.

I would recommend this to devotees of the area, bearing in mind the criticism above.
