Stunning psychological-experimental- Photography, 12 Dec 2003
This review is from: Gillian Wearing - Signs That Say What You Want Them to Say and Not Signs That Say What Someone Else (Paperback)
Gillian Wearing, a very down-to-earth photographer who appreciates "common" people as subjects, gives people on the street an A4 page to write anything on it they want and then photographs them with it... the outcomes are astonishing. It is an incredibly funny photography book, and quite touching at times, too. It displays shocking as well as stereotypical and funny as well as sad images of people that we pass by in the tube, the bus and the street every day, without even noticing them.
