I bought this book for my mother who also served in the ambulance service during the London Blitz. She says it brought back lots of facts and memories she'd forgotten. Her only criticicm was that the book related far more about the organisational aspect rather than the human experiences of the drivers who often had to drive through showers of falling bombs. So many seniors when asked how they coped during the war just remark "We just got on with the job" which in relation to driving through falling bombs makes the present generation look so pathetic when we get into a panic when a traffic light breaks down.
