This review is from: Africa Road Atlas (Perfect Paperback)
This atlas is of South african production, and the producers are trying to achieve a very ambitious goal to provide a road atlas for the whole african continent. They succeed partially, but just by the scale, it can only function for a rough orientation. The best scale is provided for southern and east africa. This may come handy for planning, as the region is popular for the overland drives from Kenya to South Africa, and it is exciting just to learn to know the region on a paper if only going to one or two countries. The west and northern Africa, on the contrary suffer by the scale. Especially, the north african countries like Morocco, Tunisia or Egypt are much better elsewhere. For detailed information of what to really expect, the Bradt's Africa Overland is a good companion.
It has, though, no sense to slaughter it for being bad because I suggest it is a nice and fair try, but national road atlases or detailed road maps for lesser regions, cities and countries are by far a better option. Saying that, Mapstudio has done very good job on South Africa itself and its neighbouring countries.
