I own lots of contemporary embroidery books (Beany and Littlejohn etc.) but I am really impressed with this book. Not only is it a delight visually but is also full of bite-sized, achieveable projects. The beautiful colours of the pieces and clear instructions really make you want to have a go. The book is undoubtedly for the contemporary embroiderer yet the stitches are the conventional ones, worked in more unusual ways. It has given me a wealth of ideas for my City & Guilds course, in terms of colour usage, presentation, stitches and finishes. Highly recommended.

This book is one of the most inspirational and practical embroidery books which I have ever bought. It is a good addition to the bookshelf of both beginners and experienced embroiderers. The use of silk fabrics makes the work colourful and rich, while the addition of threads, metallic threads, beads and handmade cords gives plenty of scope for personal creativity. There is no tedious dyeing of fabrics and plenty of handstitching which can be done anywhere. I LOVE this book!!

There are many books that show you how to do individual stitches. what makes this book stand out is that it shows you how to include the stitches in a variety of projects. It is also easy to understand so is useful for people of all abilities.

While I loved the interesting variations of common stitches in this book, I was not so keen on the projects. It is however, worth having for reference.

Several of my stitching friends have this book and it is so good at explaining techniques that I decided to purchase my own copy

Bought after buying another book by the same author. This book is inspirational and I cannot wait to try some of the projects.
