I first saw this book at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London I knew I had to have it then and put it into my wish list.
My it's absolutely stuffed; it's like a museum,
In fact its, is its own museum, the fine museum of beetles and all there background history.
On the books initial opening, I had visions of a grandmother in her garden-embroidering beetles while explaining their merits to her grand children.
One can tell that the author Jane got completely involved in this book, in fact maybe taken over. She has gone on to produce a huge variety of hand-sewn beetles, in different techniques. Which are just gorgeous; it's a wonderful inspiration.
The hand embroidery instructions are limited, but that didn't stop me enthusing over her work.
And as my experience of hand embroidery, particularly stump work is poor; I now need to purchase a simple basic book.
I can't wait to get started on producing my own little beetle collection and also purchasing Jane's "Dragonfly" book, which will now go into the wish list
