This is an epic tale of adventure, fate and friendship. The badger Sunflash the Mace and the ferret Swartt Sixclaw are sworn to destroy each other some day. Along with his faithful friend,Skalrath, Sunflash sets out to find Salamandastron, a huge mountain that had been ruled by badger lords since time began, to rule it as the lord of the mountain. However, he must first kill his fated enemy Swartt Sixclaw...

Again exceptional work from Mr Jacques. I find that this book really displays a grasp of the fact that life isn't as black and white as we like to think there are many grey areas...Veil is a grey area and is made so by the love and courage of a determined young mouse who just won't give up on the babe she raised, no matter what he does. The parallel story of Swartt and Sunflash is perhaps favoured by me and my favourite character has to be Skarlath...the touching friendship that lasts between Sunflash and his hawk made the book for me. I would recommend this whether you have read anything by Jacques before or not.

A badger called Sunflash and a kestrel named Skarlath meet on day in winter, and together free themselves from imprisonment by a ferret called Swartt. From that day on, for the rest of the three creature's lives, nothing will ever be the same. For the first two 'Books', or sections there does not seem to be anything really unexpected happening, and it follows the vein of the Redwall books that came before it - good kills bad. However, the twist at the end is as unexpected as Rose's or Felldoh's death in Martin the Warrior. The last few chapters are very sad, and although it is not THE best of the Redwall series, it still is high up on the list and well earns it's 4 crowns

Join Sunflash the Mace, a Badger Lord and his best friend Skarlath the kestral as they head towards the mountain of Sunflash's destiny, Salamandastron. Along the way, they make new friends while being persued by Sunflash's life long enemy, Swartt Sixclaw the evil ferret Warlord. Destiny also brings Sunfalsh, Bryony the mousemaid, Swartt Sixclaw and the Outcast of Redwall together in a batte between good and evil. This has got to be one of my favourite Redwall tales.

As Ferrett Swartt Sixclaw and Sunflash the Mace swear a pledge of death upon each other, a young ferret is cruelly banished from Redwall Abbey. His leaving inflicts on a young mousemaid a heartbreaking choice: whether to go with him or to stay where she is. Her choice closely entwines their two lives. When Sunflash the Mace becomes Badger Lord of Salamandastron, then who will win- Sunflash the Mace or Ferrett Swartt Sixclaw?

Sunflash the Mace escapes from being Swarrt Sixclaws slave and hunts him using the gurellia movement. Sixclaws takes his revenge and follows him, uncontiously leaving his unamed son behind. He gets taken in by the Redwallers who fight Sixclaws army and make them flee. Veil [the unamed son] tries to poison an Abbey member so is declared an outcast. Bryony the mousemaid is devestated so she embarks on a journey to find him...

The book is Outcast of Redwall by Brian Jacques. This is a grown up book. It's is also a animal book. Sunflash is a badger and Skarlath is a kestrel who are both trying to get Swartt Sixclaw who is a rat who trapped both of them. I think every adult should read it.

I fonund this story great. Sunflash, a badger lord must kill his sworn enemy, Swartt Sixclaw, but behind this he also wants to find out about his family. If you enjoyed the other Redwall books, you will love this too.
