5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Joseph Roth readers., 2 Feb. 2011
This review is from: The Collected Shorter Fiction of Joseph Roth (Paperback)
For those who have read novels by Joseph Roth, this is a fascinating view of his writing as it developed, both in style and theme. The stories span his whole writing career, and are just as perceptive and full of excellent descriptive moments as the long works. As usual, skilfully translated by Michael Hofmann. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Several masterpieces in one volume, 18 Mar. 2012

This review is from: The Collected Shorter Fiction of Joseph Roth (Paperback)
The stories range in length from a few pages to more than thirty, and are full of surprises. Probably the master-work in this collection is the fable, The Leviathan, about a seller of corals in an inland Polish town who becomes obsessed with the sea - the origin of his corals. Prepare to be entertained, surprised, and delighted.
