We bought 2 books on medieval cooking and this was easily the best - it's incredible how much sugar they had until you realise that it was grown in the Mediterranean (Cyprus was a centre) until the little ice age kicked in, Some great info in it and a nut brittle recipe using just nuts honey and spices including black pepper which is just amazing. Covers the whole of Europe as well.
