Just a quick message to say if you are wanting to initially investigate into your child's development where ADHD is concerned then this book is ideal.
I deliberately chose a book that was recently published as proffessionals research, thoughts and recommendations can change significantly over the years. This book was up-to-date, clear and concise on the subject and it did not ponder predominently on the hyperactive side (which is fine if this is the condition your child has however I was more interested in the attentive aspect) but all 3 variations of ADHD.
I also bought 20 questions to ask if your child has ADHD but I found this reviewed book more appropraite when you first want to introduce yourself to this condition, plus the 20 questions is an american book and this is UK so the recommendations it offers such as health professionals, school assessments, help groups etc are far better.
hope this review helps in your decision making as I know there are 100's of publications out there on this subject.

This review is from: ADHD - The Essential Guide: 1 (Need2know) (Paperback)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can manifest itself in behaviour patterns that may just be normal childhood behaviour, or may be symptomatic of an underlying issue. This book helps parents to know the difference, obtain a diagnosis and find treatment and support. medication is discussed in a factual manner, leaving parents to make their own informed decisions. The parctical information given in the book is excellent for helping parents approach professionals without in any way taking over their role. The practical support available is outlined and the book concludes with an extensive list of resources
