4.0 out of 5 stars Observing the Deep Sky., 3 Sep 2011
This review is from: Observing the Deep Sky: An Astronomer's Companion (Paperback)
Being on a very tight budget, When buying anything I give it a lot of thought and consderation. Not wanting to waste my precious money.
This book was no exeption, I wanted a book to help me as a relative beginer. When you start looking for Deep sky object's, that is nebula and distant galaxy's, I needed help like most people, more experienced associates are not alway's available. and I wanted a friend who was alway's there when I got my telescope out. And that is what I got. 'Somebody' to help me.
And The Amazon price not only clinched my decision. But made it a cheap friend indeed.
Are you looking for a distant nebulae. then look no further than this book. Not only will it tell you what equipment to use, and how that equipment work's. It then tell's you how to find that distant star, galaxy or nebula. Go ahead treat yourself, as a budding 'William Herschel,You will not go wrong.

For pennies, this really is a cracking little book. Well worth it for astronomers on a budget. Published in 2005 you're not going to get the cutting edge latest astronomical information, but all the basics are here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, 8 July 2012
This review is from: Observing the Deep Sky: An Astronomer's Companion (Paperback)
For the money this a great little book. Goes though everything forms scratch. From the different types of telescope and their uses to eyepieces and glass types used within them and the best uses for each. Discusses deep sky objects in good detail but not mind boggling for the beginner. A big thumbs up for this-a great gift for the budding astronomer and experienced stargazer too.
