5.0 out of 5 stars Never mind the new age archaeology, the photographs are breath-taking, 10 Jun. 2010
This review is from: Magic Stones: The Secret World of Ancient Megaliths (Hardcover)
Breath-taking, awesome, sublime: for once the words aren't hyperbole. This book of photographs of standing stones from all over Europe is truly magical.

I don't really know how to describe the beauty of the photography in words, and all i can say is that i can't imagine how it could be bettered. Pohribny captures the mystery of the stones, their connection with their landscapes and, even more than that, somehow summons up the ghosts of the people who built them.

You also get a text introduction from an archaeologist called Julian Richards. This strays a bit too close to New Ageism for me, but it does provide some useful contextual information.
