4.0 out of 5 stars A well written account of a true villian, 25 Nov. 2003

This review is from: Killer on the Road (Hardcover)
For anyone who is an avid reader of crime books, both fact and fiction, will enjoy this account of one of Britains most ruthless gangsters. The book runs from Noyes unhappy childhood right through to his dealings in the Brinks Matt Gold robbery, through his dealings and corruption of fellow free masons and the many police officers who he came across and bribed. Noye seemed to have his hands in many pies.
It would have been nice to get the story from Noye himself to see how he managed to evade the police for so long before his eventual capture in Spain.
All in all it is a gripping tale of one man and his thirst for power and wealth and the lengths he was prepared to go to achieve them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read., 25 May 2000
This review is from: Killer on the Road (Hardcover)
I read this book hot on the heels of reading The Gov'nor and Stop the ride....... Altough I do appreciate that the other two were biographies I couldnt help feeling just a little dissapointed, expecting more of the same which I thoroughly enjoyed. Dont get me wrong I thought this was a very good read, even if the Brinks Mat saga gets a little complicated and seems to go around in circles. Kenny Noye is portrayed as being a hartless fence, and everyone knows about the Steven Cameron tragedy. I just think it would have been better coming from Noyes mouth. Well worth a read though. interesting!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing man, an awesome book., 26 July 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Killer on the Road (Hardcover)
Noye is simply larger-than-life, it's therefore a great pity that many who met him seemed doomed to an unnatural fate. The sheer single-mindedness of the man in pursuit of illicit (and invariably vast) gain is frightening. The amounts of money involved, hundreds of millions in one instance, are almost beyond comprehension. This is an insight into another dimension, a harsh, scary world of ruthless yet super intelligent pro' criminals. In a nut shell, a real eye-opener.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Killer on the Road (Hardcover)
Enjoyed reading this account to the criminal life of Kenny Noye. I never understood why he escaped justice for the initial killing of a Metropolitan Police Officer and then went onto to perform a second murder. That said, when you read about the institutionalism corruption coming to light that existed / exists within law enforcement you can make your own judgement. I only hope he and his kind are never released back into society. I would like to think that what happened it this case serves as an example of what not to do when dealing with dangerous criminals.
