This review is from: Selected Poems (Everyman's Library Pocket Poets) (Hardcover)
Keats needs no introduction. Well, not to my generation. Perhaps he does need introducing to the young. In a world of illiterate 'lyrics' and amputated language, full of brutal and confrontational degradation of vocabulary and perception(try actually listening to what pop songs and rappers are actually singing) we seem to have lost the aesthetic for which Keats was so rightly famous. He is a craftsman of language, an exquisite master of words, in whose company it is a joy to spend time. It is more than depressing that so few know his work. As for the book his work is publilshed in, - as I have said elsewhere, these hard backed pocket sized books are just wonderful. They are good quality, and portable, and make possible the elevation of spirit in circumstances where time might otherwise feel dead, and depressing. Like the commute. So, yes I recommend this text.
