We used the book when staying for a week. We had 2 small children with us and the intermediate walks were great, really stunning walks. Would recommend, especially for young families.

We recently tried out the `Tissington Trail and Village' (walk 7 in the book). So was it any good? Well the walk itself was lovely. It came from the first section of the book, which is called `Short, easy walks' and it was as short and easy as billed. Nice and flat, with some lovely views. Tissington Village was quaint and picturesque and there was a gorgeous little shop called Edward & Vintage that sells yummy ice cream and sweets as well as vintage-style homewares. So we'll be going there again. Next time, we'll take our toddler boy along with us because most of the walking route was traffic free and there was relatively little traffic in the village.

And the book seemed well laid-out. We liked the fact that the map in the book was a proper OS map, rather than a sketch map, as this made it nice and straightforward to follow the right route. Another thing that was really good was that there were details about refreshments and public toilets. I think all the walks in the book include options for refreshments and toilet stops and this is very useful, not only if you have kids with you but for anyone who doesn't want to rough it.

We have both the Jarrold Short Walk and Pathfinder guides to the Peak District and both have a great variety of routes, taking in the most popular hills, dales and edges of this beautiful area. The only reason I have not given this Short Walk Guide five stars is that I feel the cover is quite deceptive - hiking up to the Kinder Plateau via Crowden Brook, or descending Shutlingsloe via a virtually sheer rock face are not routes that I think could safely be undertaken by a family with small children (and all wearing sandals!) as the cover photo suggests.

A perfect walking guide to a beautiful area. Small and light enough to put in a rucksack with all the relevant details needed when planning a walk. Even includes details about cafés etc.

The book has some great walks in it, especially with families, and that is why I purchased it. However, I was slightly confused and disappointed as on the from cover it clearly states 'including GPS data'. It clearly doesn't.

Easy size to carry in pocket. So easy to follow directions - never once got lost. Great lengths for kids too, we have 6yr and 8yr old, they both easily covered the walks.

A walking book with the right information needed to go walking in the area purchased. Well worth the buy for them family walks or even them more arduous trips.
