Through the Bible runs an incredible story; that of God the Father and His love for humanity. To highlight this, Mark Stibbe chooses 100 verses, equalling selected from the Old & New Testament. Each illustrates an aspect of God's love, and together they tell the big story of His fatherhood. Stibbe explains each verse simply and succinctly, bringing stories, characters and ideas to life. Each segment is split into bite-sized portions easily read in two minutes flat. There is a heavy emphasis on the fatherhood of God, which Stibbe's calling and a key lens through which the reader will perceive all things.....
This is ideal for stuffing in your (smallest) pocket and for getting to grips with God's word..... Each page is a 1/3 scripture and 2/3rds commentary.... This is a nice concept, lost in the detail and the delivery!

Mark Stibbe has done a tremendous job of tracing the common thread that runs through the Bible right from creation to the end times and which shows clearly the love that our Father God has for every human being that he has put onto this planet. This book is to be highly recommended for both people who are new to exploring the Bible and for people who know their Bible well but want to clearly see that thread. It will help you blow the dust off of misconceptions that have been handed down the centuries by so called 'religious' teaching and more recently by your own lifetime experiences that may have left you cynical and doubting how there could ever be a God of love...... if this is what has happened to you through your lifetime. Be prepared to allow your heart to be touched and brought to life by the love of a Father that passes all human understanding and reasoning. I carry this small book of only 128 pages in the inner pocket of my suit jacket - close to my heart - where I can just dip into it when I have a few spare minutes in my lunch hour. Thank you Mark - why has no one else ever done this book before? This is a must buy. (If you want to delve deeper, get hold of Mark's book "I am your Father".

First off, I love that this book is pocket-sized. I also love that every page has only one verse from Scripture on it and that those verses together tell an outline of the story of Scripture. And I love that the commentary on each verse is devotional but also factual. There are a few great diagrams and picture pages in this book too.
All of this makes it ideal for me to get our whole church using it as a basis for reading together in a 100 day challenge. The only quibble is that for those who are more Biblically literate or who have time to read more than Stibbe allocates on each page, there is perhaps less attraction here. However, it works very well for my purposes on the whole!
