This is the finest book I have ever read about the dreadful battles that took place in and around Cassino. The author has a firm grasp of his facts and blends everything into a thoroughly readable and, for the layman, understandable portrait of the 4 main battles fought. He presents the German view as well as that of the Allies of all nations who fought and suffered there. As well as writing about the Grand strategy behind the battles he gives outstangly good narratives of what it was like for the frontline soldiers of all nationalities. It makes harrowing reading at times but you are left with a lasting and vivid impression of the suffering of those who fought.
For anyone requiring an understanding of the battles fought at Cassino then this should be the standard reference book. It is outstanding and very highly recommended.

I would like to thank Mr J. Frost, there was a slight delay in the post, but a hand written letter from J frost explained why, apart from that the book was very clean, and as near new as a used book could be.
very happy , thank you again
