5.0 out of 5 stars extremely useful
This is a bargain edition of the excellent "Words to Rhyme With". Very comprehensive lists that give you plenty of rhymes. English pronunciation and spelling are complicated, so you do need to get used to the phonetic arrangement of the rhyming words and check the suggestions against your own pronunciation. The "Primer of Prosody" is an entertaining and informative...

1.0 out of 5 stars confused and dissapointed
I bought this book for my husband who enjoys writing doggerell. He gave it to me in frustration asking if I could find words rhyming with 'wheel' evenyually I found 'eal' with about 12 rhyming words. including ideal and unideal. Nowhere wheel, peel, seal or similar. It may be possible to find rhyming words from this book but do we really need something so complicated that...

I bought this book for my husband who enjoys writing doggerell. He gave it to me in frustration asking if I could find words rhyming with 'wheel' evenyually I found 'eal' with about 12 rhyming words. including ideal and unideal. Nowhere wheel, peel, seal or similar. It may be possible to find rhyming words from this book but do we really need something so complicated that we need a degree in quantum physics before being able to use it? It has no clear instructions, is absurdley complicated to use and I wish that I had not bought it. I am now looking to get an alternative and will consign this edition to the deep where it so deservedly needs to be!

2.0 out of 5 stars Rhming dictionary., 25 Jan. 2003
This review is from: The Wordsworth Rhyming Dictionary (Wordsworth Reference) (Paperback)
When i first got this book i found it very complicated to understand, and to find what i needed quickly, proved difficult. It is not arranged as a dictionary, but in sylables, and then sounds, to help you find the rhyme you wanted. This proves time consuming to do, but once you find the word needed there is an array of rhyming words for you to use. Although useful, i did find it overly complicated than needed and very time consuming.

Not only does this book have a comprehensive listing of rhyming words, classed phonetically, it has plenty of daft little rhymes to keep you amused. The editor, Willard Espy, is quite a wit, and also knows his poetry so the book has clear, easy to follow examples of various poetry forms...
