Having owned this publication for over a year it has proved invaluable both as a knowledge base and referance tool in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous sports injuries. The text and graphics are exellent, although the rehab section could be expanded and made user friendly. All in all essential reading.

This is the third edition of this excellent text on sport injuries. Although a 'heavy' subject to cover this book is an excellent guide to the prevention and treatment of sporting injuries. Although the book is primarily aimed at those people who work in the field of caring for these types of injuries, I would suggest that anyone who is serious about sport reads this book as the preventative aspect is very good.the section on methods of treatment for the injuries is especially very informative and quite easy to follow even though it has been written by two eminent orthopaedic surgeons (no disrespect intended). If you are serious about getting the most out of yourself or your athletes without causing injury then I strongly advise you by this book. I have read the second edition and the third edition is even better.

I have read both the second and third editions of this excellent text. The informaton on treatment of injuries is concise and specific. there is an outstanding section on rehabilitation. This book is a "must have" for anyone treating Sports Injuries or who is serious about their own sporting performance.

This is an extremely comprehensive read. It covers the complete range of sports injuries and is packed with clear and helpful photographs and colour illustrations. The book is laid out sensibly by body part and a summary is given at the start of each chapter with a labelled photo of possible injury sites so you can go straight to the problem area.
I would hope a copy of this is on the bookshelf of every physio and sports therapist!

Used this book against a BTEC sports massage therapy course. It covered everything I needed, and would recommend it to anyone doing the same.

The first bad impression is visual, the printing is faded in places and looks cheap.
The information overall is not very well presented and not very organized. Detail is lacking.
There's quite a bit of information on winter sports injury, which I assume is down to the fact that the author is presumable Swedish. This is not very relevant for countries where little or no winter sports takes place. Other mass participations sports are neglected.
Overall one of the few truly bad purchases I have made on Amazon

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is studying sports massage therapy, sports injuries or physiotherapy. Or is a person who is really into fitness and sports. It is easy to understand. Has lots of detailed info and pictures relating to many common and serious sporting injuries. Prevention, symptoms and diagnosis and rehabilitation. Perhaps could be even better still, if more detail was given on the treatment of the injuries. Good stuff though!

Good book but written for someone with a fairly good medical knowledge, rather than the everyday (non-medical) sportsman. Not bad though - it covers all areas I was interested in but, if non-medical, I would recommend reading in conjunction with another easier to understand book.

First of all, I must say why I didn't gave the 5 star rating. Well, the printing isn't trully great and some pictures do look old. Besides that, you have great info, organized by body parts. Trully great!

I am currently studying to become a sports massage therapist and this book has been very useful for referencing in my coursework. I hope it will also be beneficial for referring to once I am qualified
