Firstly, the quality of the book itself was excellent. Secondly, as a UK deacon in formation, the content of this book was extremely valuable. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone interested in pastoral studies.

This is perhaps one of the finest works available about Pastoral Care. While it was written by a member of the Church of England and many references refer to that branch of the Church Universal, the ministry of any Pastor or Priest will benefit greatly from a careful study of this book.

Kate Litchfield speaks from her prayerful experience. Her words are always illuminating and encouraging. Sometimes it is disconcerting to realise, perhaps for the first time, the many hidden pitfalls in apparently ordinary pastoral encounters.

Kate does not prescribe a set response for individual situations, but encourages the reader to think and pray more deeply about their relationships with both co-workers and parishioners. Anybody reading this book with an open mind and heart will find their ministry immeasurably enriched.

Tend my Flock is a useful and easy to read handbook on providing pastoral care. As Kate Litchfield says in her introduction it is not a comprehensive guide but she addresses honestly some of the issues that will affect people involved in this work and provides helpful practical advice.

I've really enjoyed this book and found the frankness within regarding the pleasures and challenges of parish ministry both refreshing and informative. As someone who is soon to face a selection panel for ordained ministry, this book has given a valuable insight into parish ministry and food for thought regarding my own formation.
