5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent TRIBUTE to a son, 2 Oct 2013

This review is from: Journey into Immortality: Story of David Rose (Paperback)
This book by London lawyer Aubrey Rose (AR) changes gear after page 95. At first it's the story of the illness and death of his son David from bone cancer at age 21. Then it's a discussion, at times passionate, of contact with his son after death ... and what type of reality it is in which life after death occurs.

For those new to AR, he is unpretentious but impressive in his ability to analyse and conclude. After David's death, he searched widely for the meaning of what had happened e.g., reading, discussing with experts, attending numerous séances e.g., with the medium Leslie Flint (1911-1994), and he concluded David was alive in the afterlife. The chapters dealing with his conclusions are terrific e.g., chapter XV111 "In Tune". The author explains, e.g., that the "many mansions" (King James Bible - John 14:2) "are in fact levels of spiritual development"; he also explains that thoughts are forces that shape experience. These conclusions about the importance of thought are akin to Seth's (Jane Roberts) "you form your own reality" and "you journey through your own psychological landscape".

Overall I recommend the book as the mature analysis of a very competent observer. BUT, though AR tried hard to make each sentence clear, the final chapters are concise and so thoughtful they'll be a difficult meal for someone coming fresh to such issues; maybe AR's analysis was complicated by his wish to reconcile his new understanding with his deep experience of what it means to be a Jew. Instead, as hors d'oeuvres to those later cosmic chapters, you might want to try "Olga Worrall: Mystic with the healing hands" which, a portrait of a psychic healer, contains a brief guide to the afterlife, ... or "There is a River" by Thomas Sugrue which, a biography of the psychic Edgar Cayce, gave me a gentle introduction to a world of thought.

4.0 out of 5 stars amazing insight into spirit life, 24 Aug 2011
This review is from: Journey into Immortality: Story of David Rose (Paperback)
Normally I would be cynical about contact with the spirit world. But as I knew the author personally and know that he is a sensible man of massive integrity, I found this very compelling.
