What a perfect guide, well written with some lovely illustrations. It really gives you the flavour of this beautiful area.
Walk 10 to Caroux - Table d'Orientation is lovely, especially with the exciting opportunities for rock climbing at the conclusion!"
This book is a must for anyone who wants to explore the area on foot.

The upside of this book is that it will get you by car to some beautiful areas.

I am no novice when it comes to hiking, but I did doubt my abilities to follow what surely ought to have been simple instructions after failing to reach the end of the first two walks as guided by Mr Cross. I was then joined by a friend who tracks wild game in Africa for a living. We got half way into one walk; renamed the author John Double-Cross, stuffed the book in a back pocket and carried on of our own accord with brows freed of furrows.

On reaching a rocky summit with no trails up or down, being told to turn "half left" is, to put it politely, not helpful. Being told to go straight ahead on reaching the fork in the track is, quite simply, nonsensical. Taking into account the author is a translator, one page dedicated to a glossary of terms may also have been a worthwhile addition.

To reiterate, this is a very useful book to get you to some beautiful areas. But my advice is: Once parked up - leave the book on the dashboard.

The idea of this book is very good and the walks chosen are excellent but the descriptions are inadequate causing much time wasting and a general lack of confidence in the author. We did about a third of these walks and only one went to plan. Sometimes the routes have changed in colour or paths rerouted this is no fault of the author but it needs updating. You would be better to buy books locally on arrival if you speak some french.

Before we went to the Languedoc this edition was most helpful in our planning. Now that we are back it is a superb reminder of the pleasures we found.

Walks look easy to follow - we have previously done one of them and details are correct. it is small enough to carry in rucksack
