The culmination of years of research, this is exactly is what it says on the tin. Not a beer guide, but a guide to Britains most intact pub interiors ranging from Victorian Gin Palaces to rustic beer houses where beer is served in a tap room. Various local guides have been in circulation for some years, and prior to that typed lists of unspoilt pubs were in circulation. This guide brings together everything in one book. Each pub is excellently illustrated with colour photographs and in some cases archive old black and white photographs, with details of where the pubs are and where pubs have unusual or restricted opening hours, plus detailed descriptions of what points make the pub outstanding .However the number of pubs in the book, just over 270,shows just how many pubs have been gutted and remodelled over the years, not to mention the number of unaltered rural pubs that have closed . A labour of love , highly recommended.

Another brilliant and great value book from CAMRA...excellent eat photographs and descriptions and well indexed entries by number, county and map. 270 pubs in total and I have only visited 18 of them to date so I reckon this is another retirement project!!

A great book showing the heritage pubs in Britain. Quite a lot aren't in the good beer guide either but that doesn't mean they don't serve good beer. The pictures are excellent and really make you want to check these pubs out.

This is an essential guide for the historic pub enthusiast. It contains the 270 pubs with the least spoiled interiors listed by county and town within county. Each pub is described with its special or unique features so you know what to look for before get there. Finding the pub of your choice is facilitated by its full address with postcode and the name of the public transport stop is also given if there is one within staggering distance - also if the pub sells real ale, which most do, but it is not a requirement for entry since an unspoiled interior is the key.

I have loads of fun visiting pubs with the help of this guide. Everything from the gloriously grand to the humble boozer which has remained largely untouched for 90 years - as a friend of mine said when I took him to one, on pressing the latch and opening the creaking door "Wow it's like stepping back in time", and it is.

Everything you need to get to some great pubs and fantastic ale. Pleasure to dip into. Every time I plan a journey, I get this book out to see if I can call in for a swifty along the way. No ale fan that has an interest in heritage ought to be without this gem.

A wonderful compendium with some stunning photography to tempt you into these palaces of booze. Very nicely put together and you'll want to get started straight away, although Norfolk does seems to have something of a dearth of these places. If you have any friends abroad then they would love this book as a great introduction to the unique institution of the british pub.

Well written and well illustrated, packed with information about the alarmingly small number of British pubs that retain something approximating to their original internal appearance. It is remarkable to discover there are only about 250 pubs with genuinely old surviving interiors and you can be sure you have been taken in by many retro-Victorian pub refits.
