Having just read the previous review, we obviously had very different expectations. I had bought this for myself for information and interest, and had very much enjoyed it, having also sewn, knitted, crocheted, etc. for many years for myself and others. I have just lent it to my daughter's school for a project they are doing on hats, and they have been so pleased with it that they have ordered their own copies and threatened not to return mine. Perhaps it depends on what you need - I loved it.

There are no usable patterns for hats here. A few free hand drawings are suggested to be copied and blown up 200%!? - Where might I add can you do that for free if you can find a place to do it att all??
The book has two knitting patterns, and a lot of hats, most of them impossible to make or copy, and the only patterns with meassures - lack the essential meassure to finish it.
There are suggestions for you and a lot of nice pictures, but no real step by step or instructions that you can acutally use.
I have made clothes for years, earned a living by it while i studied, and I have also made step by step patterns in magazines, for others to make - this book simply does not provide that.
As a hat making book - the book is a joke - the one star is for the nice photos.
Look for hatmaking patterns elsewhere, I felt I had spent without getting what the title promised.

Great ideas for different hat designs, colours, fabrics and embellishments. Good for trainee milliners. Patterns included are also very useful

This book is great especially for beginners as I am. It covers all the basics such as stitches used in millinery, types of materials used etc. It also contains some good projects which can be done without. using blocks. Would definitely recommend this book.

Good and very informative book. The content seems a little out of date, but generally a good and interesting read.
