This review is from: Raised on Rock: The Autobiography of Elvis Presley's Step-brother (Hardcover)
If you love Elvis you will hate this book by his ungrateful little step brother. It is a 189 page grudge list against Elvis and his family. As an example, Stanley describes how his parents rocky marriage was supposedly destroyed by the Presleys when his mother clearly saw a better future pursuing and eventually marrying Vernon. Elvis, generous to a fault, accepted and spoilt his new "kid brother" and eventually gave him work as part of the touring crew in the seventies. Stanley of course is the victim as he witnesses Elvis lose his battle with the demons that eventually killed him. Demons that Stanley happily details at length. A kind and loving brother might have tried to help, but no. Elvis is the villain. So Stanley gushes his detestation of Elvis and the Presleys. Cynically and hypocritically however the book's cover bears a picture of Elvis looking beautiful. After all, even an ungrateful little brother has to sell his book.
