It's August and that can only mean one thing, another series of the Great British Bake Off is almost upon us. To accompany the new series comes this book which contains over 100 delicious treats from across the baking spectrum. The book is easy to read due to the font and typeface that has been used. Most of the recipes should be achievable for the average baker although the technical challenge and showstopper recipes may prove somewhat more taxing. You may need to purchase some baking equipment to produce some of the recipes in this book. For example, one of the recipes calls for a 10cm cake tin, something which I do not have as of yet. Likewise, some specialist ingredients may need to be sought and hopefully these will be found in your local supermarket but if not there are plenty of online shops that specialise in baking ingredients.
I should warn those of you that like a picture to accompany each recipe that only about 40% of the bakes in this book have a picture of the finished product.

The contents page of the book is as follows:

Forward by Mary Berry
Forward by Paul Hollywood

I have bought and enjoyed the previous books in connection with bake off and this one does not disappoint. There are lots of super recipes which will certainly make you pile on the pounds. Just of couple of minor points - a fair number of the recipes do not have photos and for me that is a bit disappointing as I find it helpful to see what I am trying to make! There are some recipes from Mary and Paul plus some from the bakers but the majority are from the book's author Linda Collister which some people may find a bit misleading. However I still really like the book and will be attempting Paul's egg custard tarts this weekend!

TOP 500 REVIEWERon 30 September 2015
This is a very good book and, at the current price in the region of £5 hard to beat for value.

Obviously it builds on the popularity of the TV show, and the point is to encourage people to try their hands at baking where before they might not have had the motivation or self-confidence. To that end the recipes in this book vary from the pretty simple to quite complex: there's something here for the novice and for experienced baker.

The book is well presented: the recipes are easy to read in a clear font and the photographs are pretty mouth watering. Not every recipe has a photograph, however, which for the novice is a bit of a shame. Still, try the ones that are illustrated and build up confidence for the others.

The book is divided into sections : Cakes, Biscuits and Small Cakes, Breads, Sweet Breads, Pastry and Puddings. This isn't a book for reading up on how to do roast dinners: as with the programme, it's about baking. There are a few savoury dishes (the Filo topped Venison Redang looks especially attractive) but they are very much the exception.

For the rest of it: good, well presented recipes with something for everyone. Very good.

Yet another book in the Bake off series which like the previous ones, impresses with every recipe. This book is laid out well with everyday type recipes then 'weekend' sections for items which either take longer to prepare or bake. The Apple and Oat Muffins are delicious and disappeared swiftly after baking! They're perhaps slightly heavier than traditional muffins, maybe due to the addition of oats but never the less they're a winner.
Roasted Apples with Butterscotch Sauce were also well received after a mid week meal, very easy to do - I served them without the Vanilla Sables mentioned in the recipe as I didn't have time to make them as well so would try that another time to see what dimension that adds. Nice to see a couple of Soda Bread recipes with different favouring, the Crunchy Bacon version makes a filling accompaniment to a bowl of home made soup.
Would recommend this book, well laid out, various tips scattered through out. Perhaps the only downside is not everything has a photo but that's usually only if it's a different flavour or version to something you'd probably already what it should look like.
