If you are looking for something a bit more exciting than an egg sandwich and a jam tart in your picnic then this is the book for you. There are some hearty meals to fill you up, such as Big egg, bacon & bean salad, Layered houmous, tabbouleh & feta picnic bowl and Chicken with goat's cheese & tarragon, along with lighter bites such as From-the-fridge omelette and Chicory with walnuts & stilton. A lot of these recipes would be suitable for the dinner table or as buffet food also. I particularly like the 10-minute cous cous salad and frequently make extra so that I can take the left-overs in to work for lunch.

Bought this for ideas for the kids school lunches but most of it was picnic food which isn't quite the same thing, and many of the recipes were from other editions of the good food series. Not up to their usual standard.

Somehow not quite as good as the Little Book of Lunch - probably because it assumes you have some kitchen facilities at work.

Nice little book. Useful inspiration for when you can't think beyond cheese and pickle!

Not a bad book, but some recipes are a bit fussy and require advance preparation.

This book as some good recipes in, for lunches, picnic's and some recipes can even be used as part of a main meal. Its got anything from dips to wraps and burgers to pasta salads. I have tried out at least three of the recipes from the book, (since I bought it) and all of them have worked- with following the recipe. The book is small and compact and therefore can be taken anywhere. Overall a good buy.

Lots of interesting recipes here, and a few tips on how best to pack or prepare for a picnic are included, too. There's not a lot of appetising sweet stuff, though, and I didn't feel the book was as clearly set out as it could have been. It all sort of blends into one, but it's not a major downside. I'm still glad I bought it.
