4.0 out of 5 stars An exxelent book with all the contents of a best seller!!!, 4 Jun. 2001
By A Customer
The book tells the story of a foster child called Issy who has been having very strange dreams...... It really is a classic book and it includes magic, twists and of course the goodies and baddies. It really makes you think about the kind of things that happened in the olden days and how the inocent were killed because they were suspected of which craft. It starts with Issy, a little girl, who was fostered by a very kind man because her mum was killed by fire and she was burnt badly too. It carries on to Issy meeting the daughter of the baddest witch in town. They make friends and Issy's Foster Brother decides to come with them to watch a ritual when he finds out, he goes with them. It carries on and you will not be able to put the book down until you see Issy's fate. Overall a very good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witches,Paganism, Devils, Christianity and talking cabbages!, 7 Dec. 2003
By A Customer
Please do not be put off by the fact that this book comes under the genre of 'teenage fiction' - yes it is relatively short and its not as if the characters have been given a chance to develop, but the fast paced, clever and inventive plot is what makes the book so worthwhile reading. It tells the story of Issy, a christian who goes to live with her pagan relative. As well as the deep moral undertones and the history lesson in witches, it also has magic and fantasy and a plot and a 'whats going to happen next' sort of a feeling. And all that in about 100 pages. Dont not buy it because its teenage fiction, go buy it because its brilliant.
