5.0 out of 5 stars II SS Panzer Corps - dogs of war, 3 Sep 2009
This review is from: Sons of the Reich: II Panzer Corps, Normandy, Arnhem, Ardennes, Eastern Front (Pen & Sword Military Classics) (Paperback)
Sons of the Reich follows the short, violent and complicated history of II SS Panzer Corps from early 1944 until the end of the war. II SS Panzer Corps played a critical role in many of the Western Front's most notable clashes such as the Battle of Normandy, the Falaise Pocket, Operation MARKET GARDEN and the Ardennes Offensive. In 1945 it was sent to the Eastern Front before eventually surrendering to the Americans. Excellent maps along with well constructed narratives allows the reader to easily follow the Corps many actions, Sons of the Reich is an authoritative account and a must for any armchair general.

This review is from: Sons of the Reich: II Panzer Corps, Normandy, Arnhem, Ardennes, Eastern Front (Pen & Sword Military Classics) (Paperback)
This book has been sitting on the shelf for a while now unread - however - a long flight provided the opportunity to correct this state of affairs. Having read widely on similar subjects I expected a similar type of account. How wrong can one be. This book provides in great detail the day by day and hour by hour understanding of what it was like to be in a war zone. The detail is astonishing and really does place one as if a fly on the wall. Simple splendid.

Have read several of Micheal Reynolds books. This one like his others are well researched with plenty of information without being overly complicated and difficult to read. Another good book on a very interesting subject.
