5.0 out of 5 stars supernaturally good, 18 Nov 2010

This review is from: Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 5 (Paperback)
This companion matches in perfectly with the previous 4 season's companions. As with previous years the book is wider than A5 size.

If you have the previous companions then you will know what to expect already. If you don't then I can say it is well worth getting if you are a fan of the show.

There is a summary of each episode along with some of the background to the story and motivation behind the episode.

As with previous editions there are the mandatory interviews with Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam), as well as with Misha Collins (Castiel), Rob Benedict ("the prophet" Chuck Shurley), Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer), Mark Pellegrino (Nick/Lucifer), Samantha Ferris (Ellen Harvelle), Alona Tal (Jo Harvelle), Jake Abel (Adam Milligan/Michael), Kurt Fuller (Zachariah), Matt Cohen (Young John Winchester), Amy Gummenick (Young Mary Wincester), Mark Sheppard (Crowley), Richard Speight Jr (Trickster/Loki/Gabriel) and Rachel Miner (Meg).

In line with the previous (Season 4) Companion "Sam" and "Dean" have 3 pages plus one black and white full page picture each, the others have one page each.

There are the usual glossy, full colour, photos; 16 in total. This time, however, several of the pages are split into 2 or 4 pictures, including one half page picture of "Sam's Motel Room" (!?!) and one full page of various signs used in the programme.

I still find the "did you know" boxes interesting, but many of them now seem to be "if x was in this situation he/she thinks he/she would ..." rather than the interesting titbits that I'm used to. There are still several of the usual "music" information side boxes for those famous tunes that you just can't remember the name of. They are always handy to have, but seem to be a lot less than they were.

Once again this is a great book to have along side you when you are watching the DVD boxset so you can check on those little points that slipped past you.

It is great to see a companion that is trying to keep up the high standard it set throughout the other companion books for the "Supernatural" series.

4.0 out of 5 stars great for fans of the show, 19 Mar 2011
This review is from: Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 5 (Paperback)
This is great! I'm so glad I bought it as it has so much information about the show and Season 5 (my favourite season so far), plus episode guides and a bunch of other info. Plus nice glossy photos of the boys and other regulars - it would have been better if it had had much more photos, especially full page ones and less of the half or quarter page ones. The book is a little smaller than I expected (I know the dimensions are listed but I still expected it to be bigger) but at least it's more portable this way! I'm considering collecting the others now so I can have a complete set.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's perfect, 24 Dec 2010
This review is from: Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 5 (Paperback)
I already had the others companion, so as soon as this one came out i ordered it.
I love the 5 season, so this companion it's perfect. It have a lot of information about the set, the effects, the monsters, and also in the middle of the book it have some photos of the actors (really good photos!)
So if you liked the other companion, or if you liked the 5 season, don't have any doubts in order it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural companion 5, 30 Jan 2014

I love all these - if you're a Supernatural fan they're a must. I also find them very interesting as they give lots of background to both the storylines and the way each episode is produced. It's also nice to read about the characters and, of course, the actors themselves.
