This review is from: James Bond: Girl Machine (James Bond (Graphic Novels)) (James Bond 007) (Paperback)
Titan Books continues it's James Bond Daily Express newspaper comic strips.
In this volume we are presented with an introduction by Jenny Hanley ("Her Majesty's Secret Service" and the children's 1970's TV programme "Magpie"). This is followed by "From The Vaults" showcasing some unseen Bond art from the archives of the Daily Express. Following that we have a nice article about James Bond artwork by Ron Embleton.
The three stories within are all good stuff and originals. They are The Girl Machine, Beware of Butterflies, and The Nevsky Nude.
Another fine album for Bond fans from Titan Books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catching up on Bond, 7 Dec 2012

This review is from: James Bond: Girl Machine (James Bond (Graphic Novels)) (James Bond 007) (Paperback)
I first saw these strips way back in the seventies when I used to buy the Daily Express on my way to work but because of varying work schedules and work locations I could never follow the strips completely. Now, thankfully Titan Books have been able to collect all these James Bond strips and issue them in book form and a very good job they have made of them.

This edition, entitled The Girl Machine, features three stories, The Girl Machine, Beware of Butterflies and The Nevsky Nude. All incorporate the features that have made James Bond the icon he is today - girls guns and gadgets. All the stories here are written by Jim Lawrence and illustrated by Yaroslav Horak. The strips appear just as they would have done in the Express. Included in the book is an introduction by Jenny Hanley, who had a role in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Also included is a series of strips which show how different illustrators had their own ideas in the interpretation of the narratives; some never-before-seen strips; and a part-story by artist Ron Embleton. This book and others like it are must-haves for James Bond fans.
