Will stick with LP

Having used Lonely planet guides in the past really disappointed with this guide. This was just not a very practical guide when I visited Florence, Rome and Pisa.
Lonely Planet start with the capital city at the beginning of their guides because as a general rule of thumb these are the most visited places. Not here where you find Rome on page 617 and Turin at the start. The first section on each location is accommodation rather highlights. To be honest when you're walking around in most cases having already booked you're hostel/hotel before you got to the city to have this always at the start is annoying.
The biggest issue I had however are the maps. So for example you want to go to The Pantheon or Trevi fountatin. In Lonely planet you find the site listed in the text box and are giving a map grid reference. Easy. In rough guide The Pantheon is just written on the map which means you're forever scanning the map trying to find locations. On the Rome map no metro stations were shown which meant I had to buy a separate map as did not know nearest metro stops to sites.
