4.0 out of 5 stars Comic style presentation but serious content
I'm not completely won over by the comic book presentation but the book is a superbly condensed resume of atomic physics into cosmology. Once one becomes familiar with the style - and sees through the comic book facade, this is a great little summary of particle physics.

This book is printed in a manner unsuited to Kindle. Part of the text is shown in "speech bubbles" placed within drawings ans photos. This text is not controlled by the font function so appears in tiny script on the small kindle scree. The authot assumes that his reader is already knowledgable on the subject and confuses the reader badly at times. He must be a...

5.0 out of 5 stars Curious about Quarks, 3 Oct. 2014

This is a very accessible book that explains a difficult topic well. I feel so much more knowledgeable about this subject! Highly recommended to those interested in science and who wish to learn more about particle physics.

One issue with the Kindle version is that the graphics come out small so the writing in the comics can be tiny and therefore difficult to read. If possible I would recommend the paperback copy instead (I have both).

3.0 out of 5 stars Kindle edition is only for those with 20/20 vision, 3 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The main text is fine, but on the Kindle the diagrams can't be enlarged, and there is a lot of text on them too, which I can't read. My eyesight is not as good as it used to be, and to get full value from this book I would need it in the old-fashioned form, printed onto paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Particle Physics part by part, 30 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Introducing Particle Physics: A Graphic Guide (Paperback)
I pre-ordered this book and I recieved it the day it came out (I could even smell the wet ink).
Anyway, the book is very informative and makes very complex ideas understandable to lay-persons,
even ignorant students of philosophy like myself.

Quantum lite. Not suitable for Kindle and nothing's explained in depth. I found "Quantum" by Manjit Kumar to be more accessible, and explain stuff to a more satisfying level. Quanta - the dreams that stuff is made of ;-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not to read on a kindle., 24 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book is fun and informative, but reading graphic novels on a kindle is just silly, the illustrations are far too small, and if you big them up it's just all too slow. Probably great as an actual book!

Enjoyable, but a little disjointed and very simplistic. Did not really provide a scientific. Or a scientific description of the subject
