5.0 out of 5 stars Determination, Service & Peace - It has it all!, 1 Jun. 2010
By
Cora Barnes (Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Screaming At The Sky (Paperback)
A journey told with honesty, integrity, human spirit and truth about the ups and downs Tony faced as an athlete, a team member, a son and a man in an incredibly challenging time in his life. His stamina, determination and the belief in being positive in action even whilst self-doubt raged within is what makes him both a hero and human!

I loved the honesty and style of writing that spoke to me and I laughed out loud about a comment a team member said about 'positive stuff'! Read it, enjoy it and you will read how one man found peace to be with himself and with the world around him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting guy, 13 Sept. 2010
This review is from: Screaming At The Sky (Paperback)
I found Tony to be a very intense and interesting guy.His take on the GAA and county loyalties and expectations is spot on and i like the place he ended up in on the hurling field. He worked out the only person he could awnser to was himself and he then stopped being so harsh on evaluating his input. The reader also gets the feeling that no matter what he meets by way of adversity Tony will do very well in life as he is a very intelligent and rounded person. Some of the stuff in the book is very honest and unusally frank for somebody of a rural Irish GAA background and he hides very little of himself from the reader.Avery good and interesting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than just a hurling book, 2 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Screaming At The Sky (Paperback)
I'm a Waterford hurling fan, so reading about Clare hurlers isn't normally top of my list. However this book was a cracking read. Tony writes very honestly for a young guy. The message I took from the book is that you can do whatever you want - your mind is the only limit. Tony pushed himself to be the first full time hurler, and then moved onto a cycling challenge across Canada. The impact of his dad's death from cancer is a strong influence throughout his life and how he deals with that is really interesting. An inspirational book for anyone who's in to sport - after reading it you'll definately think bigger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Find inspiration to find yourself, 14 Aug. 2013
This review is from: Screaming At The Sky (Paperback)
Tony's book is a challenge to all of us, a challenge to be brave enough to own our own destiny, rather than living a contrived existence. When we own our own destiny good things start to happen. This book explores passion - do you know what you are passionate about? Are you doing something about it?

Explore this book then start to explore yourself.

I enjoyed it as I could relate to alot of what Tony was saying.
The book reaches out to all sportsmen and women who want to be the best at what they do not just on the hurling field.
Definitely worth a read.
