I have used this edition out of my university library several times before deciding to purchase this one for myself. The copy I received states it was printed by Amazon.co.uk on the back inside cover and is clearly of a much inferior quality than those published by the proper publishers (Imperial College Press). The cover is not as thick and the pages are of a cheaper matt type material. The contents appear to be identical however.

I was a little disappointed to receive this obviously inferior copy but the contents of the book have been useful for my finals revision nonetheless. It would be helpful if Amazon would make it clearer within the items details that this is not an original publishers version.

I'm a final year medical student in the UK and I would recommend this as a MUST buy. Everyone gets it because it provides an excellent description of each surgical block containing things you won't find in any other book (at least that I've come across)

Strengths
- Well laid out and absolutely perfect for the clinical years of medical school
- Explanations are brilliant, covering the common conditions well
- Covers everything you need to know for clinical surgery (so don't go and buy millions of other books!)
- Leaves out the things you don't need to know (which is the most important thing in a textbook!)

Weaknesses
- Does NOT cover conditions in sufficient detail as it fails to mention the best way to investigate and manage conditions. For this I would recommend the Oxford Handbooks to be used in addition

Contains a number of errors and is out of date in a number of areas.
Having said that, its an adequate brief overview of surgery to guide you revision/learning.

Very nicely written in a relatively "easy" language, great for undergrad level surgical topics during medical school and as a foundation to higher surgical training. Gives you all the basics

Well laid out and comprehensive revision of surgery for final year medical students. Maybe too much depth in some areas but will hopefully be useful for foundation years as well.

All you need to read regarding surgery for finals. It is written in prose, which makes it harder to revise from but better for learning and understanding the basic principles.

Good breakdown of essential surgery for finals. Written in a way that keeps you interested in topic and touches on osces as well as pathologies.
