Hilarious but with added ShowBiz
on 11 August 2010
This is a sequel to the uniformly funny "Grumpy Old Rock Star" and for the most part matches the original in daft, hilarious and odd stories from Wakeman's life in Rock n' Roll. By way of warning, this second book is a little more patchy with some ShowBiz luvvie anecdotes starting to get in the way of the really entertaining stuff.
As a general rule, anything here with a famous name involved will say how wonderful they are and how much they do for charity and anything involving less well-know people will tend to involve filth and (as per the first book) flatulence. Obviously it's the second type of story that tend to be hilarious and entertaining, while the celeb stuff starts to grate after a while.
Still an entertaining and funny book, just not quite reaching the sustained comic heights of the original.
