I found this book extremely readable. Because it was written in sections (rather than chapters) I could read them out of order. To be able to read his thoughts on Race, Religion, Other countries, Family etc, this gave an extremely rounded picture of the man. He is truly charismatic - and all the traits which have been written about him before at length. Because of the coverage given to him, his family and his belief systems, it is almost impossible to write a fresh and impartial review - just to say he has the knowledge and ablity to make changes, and to paraphrase his own words - yes he can!! OUTSTANDING BOOK!!!

This book is written after Obama's election to the Senate. It gives a great deal of insight into the values and philosophy of the man who is now President of the USA. It shows a man with independent mindset and considerable intellectual ability.

Undoubtedly the most thoughtful and thought provoking book written by a politician that I have ever read.

He is the man, but his book a little too much. I read chapters 1-5 (inc) and then skipped to the final chapter.

The title says it all. This man leaps of the page with a ruthless optimism and absolutely steaming intellect. I lack an interest in politics but would be blind if Mr Obama had failed to catch my eye. This book in interesting not just as an insight into a journey through the corridors of US power but as a portrait of a man who is not just a thinker but a doer. Well written and lacking in indulgence without conceding to excessive chronology and political massage this book is a good read, interesting and fun.

Will any other US President ever have such an interesting global background?!
Despite some minor glitches in the writing, it is an excellent read.

It is a very informative autobiography by a new generation of American policians. This book shows how the American System works and how people are trying to improve it and make the whole world a better place to live.
