Caroline German: I thank you! You have provided a real, comfortable delight of a book that whisks me right back to my girlhood some thirty five years past when I first read the Tyrolean Chalet books. This delightful tale could have tripped from the pen of EBD herself. Apart from three anchronistic expressions (and I can't even remember what they were now) this, to me, was so faithful to Elinor Brent-Dyer's Tyrolean Chalet titles. The growth of Juliet from wayward oddity (and who could blame her following her upbringing and tragic orphandom?) to splendid Head Girl was very well drawn, and a few loose threads like Robin's delicacy and 'Bill's' character development were tied up good and proper. I particularly liked the Eva and Dorota thread, a true honest to goodness Chalet School mystery.

Thank you so much, Caroline. Isn't life unfair, though, that God has given you scientific skills (a PhD) AND the ability to write a la EBD?! Never mind: your book is a delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must for any chalet school fan, 13 Jan. 2011

This is an excellent fill-in book.It flows easily to the reader and once picked up is impossible to put down, an excellent story showing how Juliet grows up and accepts responsibility. Chalet school fans will not be disappointed in this book, there are still the usual problems with the middles who feel Juliet is a come-down after Gisela. The way in which Huliet copes with this and her own feelings of inadequancy propel the reader from start to finish. One of the best I have read

5.0 out of 5 stars Juliet of the chalet school, 11 Jun. 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Juliet of the Chalet School (Paperback)
My name is Rosemary Allen and I live in Ottawa Canada.
I have just finished reading Juliet of the Chalet School
and really enjoyed it. If you love school stories as I do
and especially the Chalet School ones you will enjoy
this book.
The author Caroline German writes just like
Elinor Brent-Dyer did and she brings the characters to life
and although I have never been to Austria I feel I know
the country and I can picture myself being there.
I read the book in two days, I couldn't put it down.
So I recommend this book and her other book The Chalet
School and Robin by the same author.
