I bought three copies of this book for spendthrift nephews and nieces this Christmas, and discovered that spendthrift aunts in their sixties can benefit just as much from this clever authorative and well written book. We all love and hate money in equal measure- but what this book succeeds in doing is showing you that even a modicum of money management in your life can take the emotion out of money and put you in the driving seat as opposed to running along behind your bank account shrieking with terror. Chapter headings such as 'How to Pay Less', not to mention'How to stop yourself being ripped off' will speak loudly and clearly to any teenager. Plus-and this is an amazing plus- it demonstrates clearly how effective even a small amount of saving can be in helping you achieve the life you wan without landing yourself in credit card debt. The terrificcover with the ubiquitous jeans pocket simultaneously storing and shedding twenty pound notes angles the book acutely at the demographic group intended, but its thumping good read quality and sound good sense means it can be read by anyone who wants to know more about managing their money better in 2008. And yes, I have already started noting down what I spend each month...phew! had no idea how much I was spending on chocolate... if you've got a teenager in your life this is the essential book that will help them get started on money management.
