One good practical benefit of this guide to Mumbai and Goa is it's size. It will fit neatly in coat pockets, small shoulder bags and handbags.
Other good points about this guide are :
* easily readable map of the rail network in Mumbai
* 8 pages of maps of Mumbai
* interesting and useful section on bars and pubs in Mumbai
* good selection of photographs of Mumbai and Goa.
Particularly enjoyed the section which gives information on the suburbs of Mumbai. For me as a keen traveller, I am generally more attracted to, and interested in the suburbs and residential areas of a city. Wandering around the suburbs and residential areas of any city quite often is more revealing and educational to an open-minded traveller than simply hanging around the central area of a city visiting museums. art galleries etc.
A handy little guide.

This is the first Timeout Guide i have used and i was really impressed.
On the practical side it fits into a jeans back pocket; the map is good enough for you really find your way around; the rail plan too.
In terms of details it really has that 'written by locals' feel so really comes up trumps with its recommendations; all the places i tried that were listed were really good recommendations.
On the downside, its real strength is the Mumbai section; the smaller Goa section is easily surpassed by the Lonely Planet (or similar) guidebooks.
In summary - i will definaetly be looking at Time Out guides for future big-city visits.
