A thrilling and inspirational read, 5 May 2008
This review is from: How to Be a Failure and Succeed (Hardcover)
Sir Ernest Hall will go down in history as a man with passion, drive and the ability to transform his fortunes. The title of the book is no idle boast. He really did it.
How To Be A Failure and Succeed is a semi-fictional autobiography which means that the stories are perfectly rounded gems and every one as gripping as the last. It tells the story of a man who came from nothing and found everything. The people may not all be true but the message is; if you put your mind to it, you can do anything. This is a long-overdue book from a man who clearly has a lot more to say. I can't wait to read the next installment.

An inspiring and enjoyable book, 9 Jan 2009
This review is from: How to Be a Failure and Succeed (Hardcover)
Having met this inspiring man, knowing a litle of his life and background and spending a number of years working in the Dean Clough Centre in Halifax, I was delighted to find that Sir Ernest had finally put pen to paper and written his memoirs, covering the first half of his life from his humble beginnings in Bolton to his rise to fame in later years.
This is a wonderful story and brought back many memories for me of both my childhood and later years and I look forward to his second book covering the later part of his life and career, which I believe he is currently writing
I now live overseas and lent this to a friend who knew nothing of the background of the book or its author, but who equally enjoyed the read.
