5.0 out of 5 stars Bike drag racing in the good old days!, 15 Jun. 2011
This review is from: Drag Bike Racing in Britain: From the mid '60s to the mid '80s (Those Were the Days Series) (Paperback)
Superb book full of Keith's superlative photographs and informative text. I just wish it were twice the size and included some of the less well known, but nonetheless interesting characters such as Paul Windross.
Buy it!

This review is from: Drag Bike Racing in Britain: From the mid '60s to the mid '80s (Those Were the Days Series) (Paperback)
As a former sprinter myself, it was great to see some of the bikes and the faces I remember so well. Some of them, sadly no longer with us, like the late great Henk Vink who I saw actually take his bike (Big Spender) back out of the transporter (as he was loading up to get away to catch a ferry) so a fan could take some pictures of his girlfriend sitting on it.

Keith's photos, and the text that could only be written by someone who'd 'been there', brought it all back. A superb reminder of the days when competitors built their own bikes using their own, often crackpot seeming, ideas for going fast. Amazingly, some of them actually worked, paving the way for other people's innovations in various motor related areas ranging from mopeds to Formula One cars.

An excellent book for anyone interested in bikes, and anyone interested in motor vehicles with something a little different about them. Who could look at Ag McPhail's 'Jade Warrior' and not be astounded at the kind of mind that came up with it. The fact that features used on it found their way into F1, and were then banned in that sport for being 'too quick' says an awful lot for the sheer inventiveness of these guys.

A worthy addition to any petrolhead's (or methanol or nitro head's) bookshelf.

A nice pictoral history of motorcycle drag racing in Britain from a past era when you didn't just buy then race a drag bike. You bought a box of bits, built, raced, rebuilt and raced again.

The person whom I bought this for loves it, especially as it has a full & good description of our mate Steve Woollatt :-} As we run & race a top fuel bike it was perfect.
