This particular book was bought as a present for an American friend who is a beer expert and knows what he is talking about. He thought it was an excellent publication which he had never seen before. it has now gone back to the USA!

Very good understanding, descriptions, tasting from all over the world. Could be more comprehensive in the countries as he only describes some of the beers available in that country.

I have not read it yet; but what I have seen so far makes the wait worth while. The pictures are excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 29 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: World Atlas of Beer (Hardcover)
When I purchased the World Atlas Of Beer, I was expecting an atlas similar to the World Atlas Of Wine. Now, I realise that this in not as possible with beers as terroir is not a key as in wines. Culture, history, business model, etc. have much more influence than terroir.

In general, the lay-out is by region (Europe), country (Belgium), and type or region of the country. Then, there is a selection of beers which is very incomplete. This seems to me as the atlas' weak point after I began to understand the lack of terroir.

The beginning is a discussion of ingredients, types of beer, etc.
