5.0 out of 5 stars The big picture, 27 April 2010
By
Luc REYNAERT (Beernem, Belgium) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: 9.11: The New Evidence: Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
This book is not a good introduction into the 9/11 controversies, set-ups and cover-ups. It is a rather confusing mix of genuine evidence, pure speculation and blatant disinformation.
An eminent analysis of the 9/11 attacks are the works of David Ray Griffin.
However, this book contains excellent graphic material (contradicting the official version of the facts) and sketches a good overall framework (`the big picture').

On our planet, the top third of its inhabitants enjoy a relative prosperity often based on overwork, while the rest lives in traditional poverty or in a real living hell.
Within the top third, a plutocracy, a Global Dominance Group of some 200 people (P. Phillips), pulls the strings in the ongoing fight for wealth and power in the western world, helped by governments, the media conglomerates and the military and intelligence communities controlled by it.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the oligarchy needed a new enemy for the consolidation and the expansion of its power base. Communism was replaced by terrorism.

Ian Henshall sees the `war on terror' as a tactical weapon in the fight for the extension of the wealth and power of the plutocrats. After the 9/11 attacks centuries-old democratic rights were hollowed out. The presidential power was enhanced by giving the president the right to override the Constitution in times of war (on terror).

But, the author also sees a Washington oligarchy confronted with a crisis of unpopularity.
Moreover, only 16 % of the US population believes the entire official version of the 9/11 massacre. He rightly calls for a major criminal investigation by an independent Criminal Commission of all aspects of the events.

For an in depth analysis of the big picture, I recommend the works of Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed, Peter Dale Scott, Webster Griffin Tarpley, Michel Chossudovsky and Barry Zwicker.

This book is a very worthwhile read for all those who want to understand the world we live in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Update On A Deepening Mystery, 19 Sep 2007
By
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: 9.11: The New Evidence: Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
A compact 258 page paperback gives us the latest developments in the tangled web that is 9/11. Homicide cases usually fall into place the more evidence that is gathered, but in the six years that have elapsed since the tragic events, the case is still a mystery, wrapped in a riddle, shrouded in an enigma.

Ian Henshall has written an updated edition of his follow-up to "9/11 Revealed" bringing in more detail to flesh out the known information that has surfaced, despite the insistence of the mainstream media in sticking slavishly to the version put out by the much-maligned 9/11 Commission. The book is written in succinct style and is well-illustrated. It would provide an excellent introduction on the subject to the casually interested reader who only knows what has been fed to him/her by the TV, press and the Hollywood movie machine.

At the same time, I'm sure the more experienced student of the subject would welcome a review and update.

The major problem facing any serious investigator/researcher into this case is the fact that much of the evidence has been destroyed or rendered inaccessible - in itself a criminal act. There are inconsistencies in the 9/11 Commission report - right across the board - and Henshall highlights this.

Many researchers have come to the opinion that rogue elements of the US Secret Services "Made It Happen On Purpose", but Henshall leans more to the theory that the powers-that-be "Let It Happen On Purpose". He outlines evidence showing that some sort of a plot was in existence abroad, at least as early as 1995. He covers in depth, the relationship between the CIA, Al-Qaeda, and foreign intelligence services, the various players involved, and the many warnings that reached the Bush Administration, only to be met by a strange paralysis.

Henshall examines in detail the NORAD "mock hijacking" drills that were taking place that same day. Were the alleged hijackers "patsies" who thought they were merely part of the drills? How on earth would they be able to perform some of the manoeuvres involved? For example, the aircraft/missile/object that impacted the Pentagon apparently executed a tight, corkscrew-type descent from 7,000 feet. The alleged Pentagon hijacker, Hanjour, flunked flying school on a Cessna. One wonders in fact whether the flying school episodes were simply part of a "sheep-dipping" process.

Now to add to the Flight 77 scenario we have the 2006 "black box" information released by the NTSB under a FOIA request. Assuming there has not been any foul play, the indicated flight path goes well above the Pentagon roof.

Henshall examines the question as to how the WTC towers could have collapsed at freefall speed. His conclusion is that high-temperature explosions occurred. This is in agreement with Dr Steven Jones' forensic examination of the available residue, which revealed the presence of thermite. The "official" explanation gives conventional fire as the cause of the collapses and the molten steel which resulted; the required temperature in this case would be roughly 2750 degrees Fahrenheit, which has never been attained by conventional fire; an elementary error on the part of the Commission.

Then there is the case of an FBI translator who, Henshall tells us, allegedly unearthed a 9/11 - related criminal network in Washington, only to be prevented by court injunctions, from speaking to Congress about the matter.

Henshall leaves no stone unturned in examining the movements of the various aircraft that day, and looks at the alleged phone calls made from the aircraft. It is a fact that cell phone calls from aircraft in 2001 did not work from above about 2,000 feet; other investigators, notably Professor Dewdney, have confirmed this in practice. The 9/11 Commission dealt with this problem by not disclosing which of the alleged calls were from cell phones as opposed to air-phones.

The suspicions simply multiply the more the various facets of the case are examined in detail.

Criticisms of the book? The author admits that it isn't possible to cover every aspect of the case in 258 pages. He does go into the Pentagon impact in some detail, but doesn't seem to give too much attention to the physical appearance of the aircraft in New York, which in many people's minds is one of the most suspicious features of the case.

Nevertheless, I think this book is an excellent read, both for the uninitiated as well as the seasoned 9/11 sleuth.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, well presented and informative book., 16 Mar 2008
This review is from: 9.11: The New Evidence: Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
In a nutshell, the evidence captured in this book (and what is now available in general) is overwhelming and so clearly disproves the laughable government account of how 9/11 was 'unexpected' and carried out by 'freedom hating evil-doers'. It only takes a little independent research to realise that the 9/11 attack was not only known about in advance, but was documented as being the missing catalyst required to secure a indefinite military presence in the Middle East - the evidence is available, though unfortunately not through corporate/government influenced mainstream media!

4.0 out of 5 stars Case solved..., 21 Sep 2009
This review is from: 9.11: The New Evidence: Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
Nowhere near the best book about 9/11, this is nevertheless a useful addition to the library. With the recent discovery of "nano-thermite" (Google the term) in samples of the World Trade Center rubble the case for the explosive demolition of the World Trade Center is now all but proven. All that remains is for the public to wake up to this reality and the implications of it, and do something about it.

This review is from: 9.11: The New Evidence: Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
Total rubbish, without a shred of convincing evidence.

When even Noam Chomsky says that "the evidence that has been produced [for a 9/11 conspiracy] is essentially worthless" and that "if you look at the evidence, anybody who knows anything about the sciences would instantly discount that evidence", I think it's time to give up and go back to UFOs and lizard people.

1.0 out of 5 stars for the touchingly naive, 27 Feb 2010
This review is from: 9.11: The New Evidence: Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
Its magnificent entertainment but I fear it has absolutely no relationship to material fact. There simply is no new 'evidence' offered, just a melange of barmy hearsay. If you like mindless conspiracy theories you will love this book.

It merely betrays the depths a committed 'journalist' will plumb in order to gain sales in this cynical age.
