5.0 out of 5 stars Ticks all the right boxes..., 12 Aug 2008

This review is from: Living and Working in India: The Complete, Practical Guide to Expatriate Life in the Sub Continent (Paperback)
I have been lucky enough to live and work in India a couple of years ago and am likely to go back with my current company. I wish this book would have been around then! A lot is written about the place, but the authors seem to have really got both the essence and the detail right. Seriously, if you turn up and you haven't read up on the place, people, culture and how to get things done... well, you'll be dazed, confused and playing catch up. You need to know about life in India, visas and immigration, work and business practices, how to get a place to live rather than living out of a hotel(!) and what happens if you need medical treatment or a dentist. I'd strongly recommend this as a place to get the knowledge and understanding you need... for taking the best informed decisions both before and after arrival. Good luck!

This review is from: Living and Working in India: The Complete, Practical Guide to Expatriate Life in the Sub Continent (Paperback)
This book contains the sort of practical information you need if you are planning to live in India for an extended period of time. It is generally aimed at expats who are sent by their companies and who have access to a high standard of living.(read, luxury) I live and work in India as a volunteer and my standards are not quite this high. However, the information was still useful to me. I also help people who are moving to India from Sweden and in this case the book is extremely useful and I suggest that they purchase it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Passage to India, 30 Nov 2011
This review is from: Living and Working in India: The Complete, Practical Guide to Expatriate Life in the Sub Continent (Paperback)
Living and Working in India is a specialised subject, which has been handled well, but like any book it is a snapshot of the time it is written. Visa applications and requirements have changed. Overall it is a very helpful, comprehensive book.
